Slow loading is the most common problem, along with not being able to see everything a site has to offer properly. WPtouch Creates Mobile Versions of Your WordPress Blog

Keeping these facts in mind, it becomes clear for website developers to understand why making a website mobile friendly is essential. WPTouch Pro is a powerful WordPress plugin that is ideal for creating mobile and tablet versions of websites.

It works by recognizing various Android, Blackberry or iPhones and iPads and presenting the optimized version, instead of the regular desktop version. Visitors have the option of reverting to the desktop versions if they so desire. It does not function like a typical plug-in that glues RSS feeds together or alters the look of a site. Instead, it creates a proper full theme that is totally different from the one on the desktop, while offering all the features.

Easy, Necessary, Full of Options, and Free

WPtouch Pro comes with some really interesting options that allow users to do as much or little as they desire. For example, for sites associated with commerce where one may wish to keep statistics of visitors against sales made, it allows users to enter the statistics code in the admin and does the rest by itself.

Changing themes or creating new ones without having to worry about the statistics codes is also not an issue. Video and audio options are now a common part of any website, so whether one posts from YouTube or embeds the standard h.264 video, the WPtouch Pro allows it easily.

The plugin is capable of supporting HTML5 tags automatically, and there is no need to worry about scaling as it does that automatically. Mobile advertising is equally easy – just add the Adsense credentials, and select where to display the ads and one is ready to add up their earnings.

Installation and Tweaking

Installing the plug-in is a fairly simply process – just download the zipped file and then upload it through the designated interface. After uploading, fill in the license information and it is ready. While configuring is easy, there are a lot of options and one has to play around a bit to get the right ones. The plug-in is available in three price ranges allowing different numbers of sites to be loaded.

Wireless internet technology is growing and expanding, and the need to cater to the customers on tablets and smart phones can’t be ignored. If one has the funds and resources, then producing specific applications for the different operating systems would be the ideal solution. For others, one platform that works across all systems like the WPtouch Pro is the next best thing. Being cost-effective and easy to use makes it even more valuable.

1. WPZOOM

WPZoom reminds me a lot of WooThemes to be honest. They do solid work and a lot of it. Good business, magazine, and portfolio themes. Their membership fee seems reasonable and well worth it.

Pricing: $69/$149 per theme, or subscribe for $9/month ($199 setup fee) or $19/month to get PSD files ($299 setup)

2. Solostream

Solostream has both premium and free themes for every design need. 30+ solid themes for the slightly-expensive price of $79 each. Luckily, they are currently featuring a 3-for-1 coupon that takes that price down to $26.33/per theme. Not bad at all.

Pricing: $79 per theme (currently have an awesome 3-for-1 coupon though!)

3. Elegant Themes

Elegant Themes has been around for a while and always produce high quality work. In my opinion, even after the price increase from $20, this is the best deal for WordPress themes on the web.

Pricing: $39.95/year

4. StudioPress

StudioPress features several themes built on their Genesis framework. They offer both free and paid themes.

Pricing: $79.95 for theme + framework, $299.95 for all of their themes (including future releases).

5. Organic Themes

I will let their about page do the talking for me:

Organic Themes was founded by David Morgan and Jeff Milone in the small town of Lahaina on the Hawaiian Island of Maui. We chose the name “Organic Themes” because we felt it reflected our personal lifestyles, and suited our approach to the design and development of WordPress themes. Organic Themes are professionally designed without excessive flashy effects, gradients, drop shadows and other unnecessary added “hormones” of the design world. In addition, our code is clean, easy to understand, and the theme options are not overwhelming.

Pricing: $69 per theme, $249 for all of them (including future releases).

6. PageLines

PageLines has a cool Drag & Drop framework that all of the themes are built upon. They currently feature only 5 themes, but their designs are beautifully elegant and as they say on the website, designed for perfectionists.

Pricing: $79-$149 per theme, or subscribe for $14-$18 per month.

7. VivaThemes

Viva Themes was launched in 2009 and has been producing nice themes ever since. Notable themes: Amantina, l’Image

Pricing: $46 per theme, $160 for all themes (not including future releases)

8. ThemeTrust

ThemeTrust has some really great themes for standard prices. Check out the Quantum theme – gorgeous and ultra-easy to set up.

Pricing: $49 per theme (buy 1 get 1 free)

9. RichWP

RichWP themes run on their custom framework, the aptly names RichWP Theme Framework. Really solid work here, but the themes are a bit expensive.

Pricing: $127 per theme + framework

10. Themefuse

Themefuse has a lot of great themes, especially for app websites. I really dig their Envision theme and it’s great pricing page.

Pricing: $39/$49 per theme

11. Themify.me

Themify.me has some nice, simple themes. It seems to me like their work is getting better and better and their most recent offerings are impressive. Folo is a good one. Fair pricing, as well.

Pricing: $39/$59 per theme (buy 1 get 1) or subscribe for $10/$20 per month ($100/$150 setup fees respectively)

12. Legend Themes

Not much to offer yet, but what they have looks solid. Perhaps a bit expensive, but according to their About page…

Free as in Freedom.

All of our themes are licensed under the GPL. Not just the just the PHP and WordPress parts, but also the images and CSS. You may use our themes on as many sites as you like and modify them to your hearts content. The only thing we ask is that if you are going to distribute our themes, you improve them first. You don’t even have to give us credit.

Pricing: $70 per theme

13. Templatic

I like Templatic’s work a lot, and their 1-click auto-install makes it very easy to get a theme up and looking just like the demo, which as many of you know, can be a bit of a problem sometimes. Definitely worth a look.

Pricing: $65/99 per theme or subscribe for $15/month ($299 setup fee)

14. Gorilla Themes

Gorilla Themes has some good releases, of which the most notable is Nightclubbing. Good music and entertainment theme resource.

Pricing: $39/$69/$99 per theme

Setup instructions:

Setting up the theme is incredible easy. Everything is located in options.php for easy editing.

To edit how many portfolio samples show on the front page, simply edit $portfolio_show to reflect the correct number. The same goes with $services_show. The designated pages (like Portfolio or Services) will show all entries.
To edit which category houses the 'Featured' posts that are shown in the slider, simple edit $featured_id to the appropriate post category ID. Edit $featured_show to allow the number of posts to be featured.
